Once the corresponding fuses have been found, it is easy and quick for the electrician to install the switch. Without checking the walls and the fuses, only the sockets in the bedroom will be activated, thus missing the aim. Each wall has two sides and the current goes 360 degrees and only knows one way. Controlling the mains cut-off is important!
Our experience shows us time and again that the control of the mains cut-off does not work. Very often, we experience situations in which the installed demand switch have been broken for a long time or have NEVER been turned on. Therefore, the included control light is important. The mains cut-off will have only worked if this lamp has lit up, and this happens only when no more power is needed. Control appliances with standby functions, radio alarms and lamps with power cables, and sometimes even the electric toothbrush in the bathroom.
Many appliances are permanent consumers without stand-by functions. Check your on and off switches. If they are between the transformer and the mains plug, the current is divided. However, if the switch is past the appliance’s transformer, it is not possible to switch it off. In that case, only an external socket strip with its own on- and off-switch will be able to help.

Demand switches, energy-saving lamps and LED – a problem with the base load!
Do not be surprised if the energy-saving lamps and LED lights do not switch on anymore if a demand switch has been installed. The reason for this is that the low amount of current that is needed to “ignite” the energy-saving lamps and LEDs. The demand switch alone will often not recognized them being switched on and the room stays dark as a result. Therefore, it is necessary for the mains decoupler to help out.
For this reason, a base load component is automatically attached to each ONF 3 demand switch to increase the base resistance. This ensures that the process of the lamp gets enough current for the demand switch to recognize it. The demand switch recognizes LEDs of at least 4 watts normally without any additional base load resistors. The Eltako GLE base load resistor is compatible with all commercial demand switch.
Power consumption is not increased by the load resistor. There are no temperature problems because the load resistor only becomes warm to the touch for a few seconds (during the switch-on process).
One load resistor is needed per power switch/breaker as long as it is not directly installed to the consumer.
Alternatives to the demand switch: shielded cable or shielding paint
The general problem with electric fields does not even occur with shielded cables. However, because a later installation is too expensive most of the time, this is more for house construction when the mains circuit is put in. Shielded cables are very effective, but the difference in price to regular power cables is considerable.
Another effective alternative to the demand switch is to paint and ground the wall with shielding paint. This removes existing stress caused by electric fields even more effectively and regardless of whether consumers work before or after.
Beware of metal in the bed – an important factor
The mattress and the bedding must be taken into account when thinking about electric fields. People literally bring the power to their bed if they use innerspring mattresses or mattress pads with silver threads. That is the wrong way to invest in an ONF 3 demand switch and to sleep on a mattress or duvet with silver threads, which act as antennae that attract electrosmog very effectively!!
The control light is also available separately, but you must know that only up to 3 control lights can be used per ONF 3 circuit off-switch (otherwise, the demand switch won’t switch off again). The control light is compatible with all commercial demand switches.
