MOSKINTO no pieks Insect Repellent Spray with Picaridin – Effective Protection Against Mosquitoes and Ticks | DEET-Free | Lemon Scent | 75 ml

This modern mosquito repellent spray protects reliably against mosquitoes and ticks. The skin-friendly formula with Picaridin is suitable for adults and children aged 2+ and offers long-lasting protection during outdoor activities, travel, and everyday use.

At first glance, an insect repellent spray such as MOSKINTO® no pieks may not seem like a typical product for a shop focused on natural products. However, after two years of intensive real-world testing, I decided to include it in our range.

I am one of those people who seem to attract mosquitoes almost magically during the summer months. For more than ten years I tried everything: high-quality aloe vera, essential oils, and even ultrasound devices. Unfortunately, none of these solutions provided reliable protection. Warm summer evenings often ended early because mosquito bites became unbearable.

The only thing that worked reliably for a long time was the “chemical hammer” DEET. While it kept mosquitoes away, my skin often became red and irritated after just a few days of use.

Two years ago, I discovered MOSKINTO No Pieks spray. It was a real game changer. Although it is technically a biocidal product, it is fundamentally different from many classic DEET-based sprays.

We tested it extensively for over two years in the D-A-CH region as well as during trips to Greece, Spain, Italy and even Tanzania. The result was impressive: dramatically fewer mosquito bites and no noticeable skin irritation, even with regular use.

For us, No Pieks is the ideal solution when purely natural approaches reach their limits. It may not prevent every single bite, but it makes outdoor life enjoyable again – even for children.

And for the occasional bite that still happens, our bite away itch relief device can quickly relieve itching.

Effective protection against mosquito bites

Mosquitoes are highly skilled at locating humans. When a female mosquito lands, a small but complex process begins: while biting, it injects saliva into the skin to keep the blood flowing. Our immune system reacts by releasing histamine, which causes the familiar itching and swelling. However, mosquito bites do not have to become a major problem – especially when you take the right preventive measures.

Prevention is the best strategy against mosquito bites

A mosquito bite usually heals on its own, but scratching can slow the healing process and increase the risk of irritation or infection. The best way to enjoy warm summer evenings outdoors is therefore reliable prevention. Alongside mechanical protection such as long clothing, a high-quality insect repellent spray is one of the most effective ways to keep biting insects at a distance.

How it works: A protective shield for your skin

Moskinto no pieks contains the modern repellent active ingredient Icaridin (also known as Picaridin). It offers several important advantages for comfortable outdoor activities:

  • Effective repellent barrier: Icaridin creates an invisible protective layer that interferes with insects’ ability to locate human skin and prevents them from landing.
  • Long-lasting protection: Up to 8 hours of protection against mosquitoes (including tiger mosquitoes) and up to 4 hours against ticks.
  • Skin- and material-friendly: Unlike DEET, Icaridin does not damage plastics or textiles and, thanks to its water-based emulsion, is especially gentle on the skin.
  • Suitable for travel: Effective in both temperate and tropical climates against mosquitoes that may transmit diseases such as malaria, dengue, or Zika.

With the right prevention using Icaridin, you can enjoy summer outdoors without constantly worrying about mosquito bites. And if a bite still occurs, follow-up use of the bite away itch relief device can provide fast relief from itching.

Icaridine DEET

Prevent mosquito bites effectively
Why Icaridin is a modern alternative to DEET

Summer is the perfect time for outdoor activities, but mosquitoes, ticks and horseflies can quickly make time outside uncomfortable. A mosquito bite is more than just an annoying nuisance – certain insects can also transmit diseases. While insect repellents based on DEET were long considered the standard, Icaridin (also known internationally as Picaridin) has become a modern and well-tolerated alternative.

What is Icaridin and how does it work?

Icaridin is a highly effective insect repellent with a broad spectrum of activity. The active ingredient forms an invisible protective layer on the skin that interferes with the insects’ ability to locate humans. As a result, mosquitoes, ticks and other biting insects are far less likely to land on the skin.

Long-lasting protection with Moskinto® no pieks

If you are looking for reliable protection against mosquito bites, Moskinto no pieks offers a long-lasting solution. The spray provides up to 8 hours of protection against mosquitoes and up to 4 hours against ticks. It can also help reduce the risk of bites from mosquito species that may transmit diseases such as malaria, dengue or Zika.

Safe for materials and equipment

A key advantage of Icaridin-based repellents is their high material compatibility. Unlike many conventional DEET products, the formula does not damage plastics, coatings or synthetic materials. Because the spray is water-based and non-flammable, it also offers additional safety during storage and travel.

Pleasant on the skin

Many insect repellents leave behind an oily or sticky layer. Moskinto no pieks focuses on modern cosmetic properties:

  • Absorbs quickly without residue
  • Leaves no greasy or sticky film on the skin
  • Moisturises the skin
  • Pleasant scent

Icaridin vs. DEET – key differences

Icaridin offers effectiveness against mosquitoes, ticks and flies comparable to DEET, but with important advantages. DEET can damage plastics and synthetic textiles such as glasses or functional outdoor clothing. Icaridin, by contrast, is generally more material-friendly while still providing reliable insect protection.

Conclusion: Enjoy summer with fewer mosquito bites

Mosquito bites do not have to be part of summer. With the active ingredient Icaridin in Moskinto no pieks, you can protect yourself effectively against biting insects and enjoy outdoor activities with greater comfort.

Mosquito bites? No problem! How to protect yourself effectively

Mosquitoes – those tiny summer “vampires” – can quickly turn a pleasant evening outdoors into an itchy experience. No matter how carefully we try to avoid them, they always seem to find us. But what actually happens in the skin when a mosquito bites? Let’s take a closer look at the science behind mosquito bites and how effective prevention can help.

When mosquitoes bite: What happens during the process

As soon as a female mosquito (only females bite) lands on the skin, it begins searching for a suitable blood vessel. Using its specialized mouthparts, it pierces through the skin. Once it reaches a vessel, it injects a small amount of saliva. This saliva contains substances that prevent the blood from clotting so the mosquito can feed more easily. For our immune system, however, this foreign substance immediately triggers a defensive reaction.

Why mosquito bites itch and swell

Female mosquitoes need the proteins in human blood to produce their eggs. Our body reacts to the mosquito’s saliva by releasing histamine. Histamine widens the blood vessels and causes the typical redness, swelling, and itching associated with mosquito bites. Depending on individual sensitivity, even a small bite can develop into a noticeably itchy bump.

The best anti-scratch strategy

The most important advice: avoid scratching the bite. Although scratching may provide temporary relief, it irritates the skin further and can prolong the healing process. Mechanical solutions such as protective grid patches can help protect the affected area and interrupt the itch–scratch cycle without additional chemical irritation.

How long does a mosquito bite last?

The healing time of mosquito bites varies from person to person. In some cases the irritation fades within hours, while in others swelling and itching may last several days. One thing is certain: the more the bite is scratched, the longer the skin usually needs to recover.

Prevention: How to avoid mosquito bites effectively

Prevention is the best protection against mosquito bites. Wearing long clothing in the evening and using a reliable mosquito repellent such as Moskinto no pieks with the active ingredient Icaridin can help keep mosquitoes at a safe distance. It is also advisable to avoid standing water near your home, such as watering cans or rain barrels, as mosquitoes often lay their eggs there.

Conclusion: Understanding mosquitoes helps prevent bites

Once you understand how mosquitoes locate humans and how effective prevention works, it becomes much easier to protect yourself. With the help of modern repellents containing Icaridin and a few simple preventive measures, you can enjoy summer outdoors with far fewer mosquito bites.

The Anopheles mosquito is a group of mosquito species mainly found in tropical and subtropical regions. Some species can transmit pathogens, including the parasites that cause malaria.

Borrelia infection, commonly known as Lyme disease, is an illness typically transmitted through the bite of an infected tick. Early diagnosis is important because the disease can usually be treated successfully when detected in time.

Citronella is a natural fragrance derived from certain grasses. It is commonly used in candles, sprays, and essential oils that help repel mosquitoes.

DEET is a widely used active ingredient in many insect repellents. It works by interfering with the scent signals humans emit, making it harder for mosquitoes to locate their host.

Many mosquito species lay their eggs in standing water such as puddles, rain barrels, ponds, or small water containers.

Fever can be a symptom of diseases transmitted by mosquitoes. These include illnesses such as dengue fever or infections caused by the Zika virus.

The yellow fever mosquito is a tropical species capable of transmitting viral diseases such as yellow fever, dengue, and Zika.

When a mosquito bites, the body reacts to the mosquito’s saliva. This triggers the release of histamine, which causes itching, redness, and swelling of the skin.

Insect repellents are products designed to prevent mosquito bites and deter other biting insects. They are commonly available as sprays, lotions, or roll-on applications.

Japanese encephalitis is a viral disease transmitted by certain mosquito species and occurs mainly in parts of Asia.

Rising temperatures can allow some mosquito species to spread into new regions. Climate change may therefore influence the distribution of mosquitoes and mosquito-borne diseases.

Lyme disease is another name for borreliosis. It is transmitted by ticks and often begins with a characteristic ring-shaped skin rash.

Special patches can help relieve itching and skin reactions after mosquito bites. They are applied directly to the affected area.

Many mosquito species are most active during dusk and nighttime. This is when the likelihood of mosquito bites increases.

Earwigs are beneficial insects in gardens. They feed on pests and decaying plant material.

Pyrethroids are synthetic chemical compounds commonly used in insect sprays and pest control products.

Jellyfish can cause painful skin reactions when they come into contact with the skin. The symptoms may resemble insect bites but require different treatment.

Repellents are substances that deter insects from landing on the skin. They are usually applied to skin or clothing to help prevent mosquito bites.

Wearing long clothing can help protect the skin from mosquito bites. This is especially useful in areas with high mosquito activity or in tropical regions.

Tropical and subtropical regions host many mosquito species that can transmit diseases. Consistent mosquito protection is therefore particularly important in these areas.

UV light traps are devices designed to attract insects using light. Their effectiveness against mosquitoes is limited and often debated.

A vector is an organism that transmits pathogens from one host to another. Mosquitoes are among the most well-known disease vectors worldwide.

The West Nile virus is transmitted by certain mosquito species. It occurs in many regions of the world and can cause flu-like symptoms in humans.

The term xerophilic describes organisms adapted to very dry environments. Most mosquito species, however, prefer humid conditions.

The Yucca moth is an example of a close relationship between insects and plants and plays an important role in pollinating Yucca plants.

When spending time outdoors – for example hiking, camping, or gardening – proper tick protection is important. Ticks can transmit diseases such as Lyme disease, so protective clothing, repellents, and checking the body after outdoor activities are recommended.

The bombardier beetle has an extraordinary defense mechanism. When threatened, it can eject a hot chemical spray explosively to deter predators.
